Great food. Love the Jerk Chicken and Jerk Burgers. Friendly staff. Come a few times a month.

My daughter & I tried this place for the first time for lunch. I ordered the jerk wings & she had the jerk chicken cheese fries. We both also had a Jamaican beef patty & pink lemonade. I ordered a side of Jamaican greens (mustard greens). The greens were seasoned well & a bit spicy. My wings were good with plenty of sauce. I sampled the jerk chicken cheese fries & thought they were just okay but my daughter loved them. We both really liked the beef patty but thought the lemonade drink they served us tasted like Kool-Aid. I thought the prices were high for such small servings.

Coming from Florida, I'm big on Caribbean dishes since you can get great island food at every corner. Sometimes, I know it's difficult to find good ethnic dishes in the middle of the country but Island is legit!
The brown stew chicken was insanely delicious, chicken just fell off the bone...so juicy, I couldn't get enough of the sauce! My friend got the jerk chicken which was also good but I think the brown stew was better. I would also recommend the pineapple sweet tea, delicious!
Initially, I was looking forward to either the curry goat or oxtail but it's only good during certain days and times...that's ok, something to look forward to! Enjoy! -

Pretty disappointed. After seeing them on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, I got all excited to try this place. Also because I'd recently had some bangin' Jamaican food and I was totally in the mood for al those great flavors and spices again. But what hubby and I shared left us unimpressed.
We visited just before noon on a Saturday. There were a few other people ahead of us in line. Everyone else appeared to be doing take-out. But we found a seat in the side room out of the way where our two year old could roam free. Our food took a bit to come out - I's say 15-20 minutes. A little longer than I expected.
We ordered the jerk chicken cheese fries, the beef patty and the plantains. The only thing to say is blah. There was absolutely no flavor in any of it. Such a bummer. My pregnancy cravings were most certainly let down. -

I continue to be amazed by the number of local food spots in Cincinnati that I've been sleeping on since moving here. In Indianapolis, one of my favorite spots served traditional Jamaican beef patties, and I've been missing that flavor! UNTIL NOW. I remember seeing Island Fryday's on an episode of Guy Fieri's show a while back.
I am glad that I finally got a chance to taste this place.
I also got a side of plantains which were pretty much amazing! There was one of the plantains and my set that didn't seem like it was cooked all the way through wasn't as tender but was still good.
[SIDEBAR] I had a jerk cheeseburger to carry out. Though it only takes me about 10 minutes to get home, when I arrived, the burger was luke warm. It hadn't even melted the cheese.
